Incubation. For Impatigo

"In 1973, the young teacher Rosario de Simancas revolutionizing education by handing the keys to the school Pilar Pelgrón communities and involve local students to work voluntary"

We were a handful of children and young people captivated by his enthusiasm, his youth and charismatic beauty. In 1973 he was named director of the Pelgrón Pilar Elementary School located in an old house on Marine Avenue between San Ignacio and San Miguel had been seized from Fortunato Herrera alias famous platinum, sort of gambler connected the dictatorship of Marcos Pérez Jiménez. That young teacher would begin to give that talk, not surrender in the abandonment of the old house, on the precariousness of its terse resources and oblivion to which they attempted to subdue the small school Pelgrón Pilar.

Repair desks, repair ceilings, plaster in the walls and go to the community to work with neighbors

The first task was to provide and repair the old desks, where we all participate with joy after roofs, walls, the floor. The old house sunk the abandonment was full of life and laughter. His leadership brought together parents, guardians and neighbors all volunteers come to repair and make good school for their children. Then she would lead the brigade of boys and girls to identify community streets, clean parks, collect debris from the streets, painting the church, organizing cultural and sporting movement .

school keys at the hands of the community

One morning we gave the keys to the school and said: "This school is yours, so now onwards I have no keys, you will -
Thereafter came a vigorous cultural life, sports, environmental and neighborhood that would sit for years in the old school in Pilar Pelgrón Marino Avenue. Music, theater, dance, Coral, local news, sports, neighborhood and social struggles from small motorized school to the communities of San Ignacio, San Miguel, Barrio Bolivar, La Libertad and Barrio Lourdes.

The fight for a seat

Rosario anyone inspired social movement fight for a new school building for Pelgrón Pilar. Had to go through thousands of blocks in the Marina Avenue in protest of a capitalist abuser who wanted to seize the land for the new seat made. A long struggle of the community for 9 years she managed led the construction of the long-awaited facility for the institution in the urbanization of San Miguel.

Rosario revolutionized the school-community relationship

The effect of experience-Community School of Pilar Pelgrón initiated by the teacher transcended Rosario Flores de Simancas from local to regional and national levels. We had to go to Maracaibo at a meeting of educational communities, areas, supervision and management of schools interested in the simple experience that became national paradigm to follow.

In 1982, the harsh reality of a dream collapses

Rosario had gone too far in working Pelgrón Pilar San Ignacio Cultural Movement supporting neighborhood struggles, ecological, cooperatives, textile , etc. Several years of struggle to save 75 trees of an international consortium that sought build a huge "shopping mall" with 4 levels between the Avenida Aragua and Guarico San Ignacio street deteriorated sewer, water, electricity and roads in the area and sought to prey on this small wood made of natural lung. The community and the school had resisted Pilar was their stronghold. The political and economic pressure was not long, I had personally taken the decision to hand the keys to the school and tell Rosario that the movement is entrenched in San Ignacio. She disagreed with that decision, but with much pain for the sake of the school, the San Ignacio Movement continued to fight on their own making in 1986 a triumph Final Ecological Park to be created next to Simon Bolivar Company and the Central Madeirense machines.

1983; Rosario leads the school to its new headquarters in San Miguel

Two fundamental victories had scored the brave teacher, the new headquarters for the school and the Ecological Park Simon Bolivar . In the last conversation he had with our partner Zuleima Chirinos gave many photographs, newspapers and articles that jealously preserved for years, saying "You will get back together again and tell our story, here.

We thank life for having known this small writing and serve all our struggle as a tribute to your memory forever.
